The Pyramid Approach to Education® integrates teaching strategies and enhances opportunities for communication across activities. This talk focuses on creating and implementing energizing and calming activities to increase communication. Benefits of these activities include developing functional alternatives for challenging behaviors. We will highlight how to guide caregivers to develop and teach these activities with individuals with complex communication needs. Emphasis will be placed on the role of the behavior analyst in encouraging communication opportunities regarding energizing and calming activities.
